The incessant buzz over the launch of beta version of Windows 7, Microsoft’s successor of Windows Vista, is finally settling down, with the software giant indicating that the first beta is expected to appear in January next year.
In one of the blog posts on Microsoft’s Technet site, Keith Combs asserted that those who are looking to grab the first beta version must register themselves to attend one of the series of upcoming MSDN meetings and conferences.
The blog coupled with another blog post from Microsoft, has asserted that the attendees of these conferences, which is scheduled to kick-start from December, will get “Windows 7 Beta 1 DVD”; however, Combs notified that the DVDs must be ready by the middle of January.
As per the schedule, Microsoft will host 11 conferences between 9 December and 19 February, in 19 cities throughout the US, and attendance charges would be $99 per person.
The company asserted that the DVD won’t be available for December sessions in Houston, Atlanta, and Orlando, and these are said to be available in January and February sessions, which are scheduled in Washington, New York, Minneapolis, Chicago, Boston, San Francisco, Detroit and Dallas.
In addition to first beta of Windows 7, the conferences will also include other products, such as Microsoft SQL data services, Windows Azure, Oslo modelling platform, Visual Studio 2010, and Silverlight 2.
