Ever turned up in a city needing to check that email from your customer or just needed a change of scene from your desk but didn't know where your nearest and best WiFi hotspot was?

Orange Business Services offers access to more than 10,000 wireless hotspots around the country and has developed an online tool to identify the top one hundred best places to wire-free work near you wherever you happen to be.

The mobile operator (or at least its minions) has been scouring the UK, developing a detailed directory of hotspot locations for all towns and cities, big and small.

By entering your postcode in to the search bar on the Orange WiFi workplaces site, you will receive a list of the ten best places for wireless working nearest to you.

Clicking on one of the locations will take you directly to a map and include the full address and contact details of the hotspot location.

To make it into the top ten the site has a star rating system, which marks out of five the following factors for the best wireless working environment:
- Power (access to an electricity supply) - to make sure your device does not run out of juice
- Food and drink - to keep energy levels up or for a working lunch
- Outside space - just in case the sun does shine this summer
- Work friendly - are communities of mobile workers welcomed or frowned upon
- Comfort - depending on whether you like squidgy sofas or hardback chairs
- Wow factor - if you need to impress someone with your new "office"

"Business people working on their laptops in coffee shops are now a common site but sometimes it can be hard to find a place where it is easy and comfortable to get on with your work. By critiquing all of our hotspots with work in mind we have built the directory to not only locate with pinpoint accuracy where the closest WiFi places are but also, with our star rating system, the best places to work whatever your specific needs may be," said Paul Tollet, vice president, Orange Business Services.

Through its partnerships with The Cloud and BT Openzone, Orange has one of largest WiFi networks in the UK and access to more than 40,000 hotspots worldwide although other mobile operators like O2 also have agreements with these partners.
