Dundee is about to become the first Scottish 'Fibrecity', delivering ultra high speed connectivity to its residents with broadband speeds of up to 100 Mbps.
The installation work is scheduled to start in 2009 and about 55,000 homes are expected to be connected to the network by 2010.
Dundee will become the second area in the UK after the seaside town of Bournemouth with the sewer-based H20 fibre optic cables.
The 'Fibercity' network will provide ultra speed connectivity to the remote areas of the most-densely populated city of Scotland.
In areas where a sewer-based installation is not possible, H2O will deploy the network using the patented Blown Mini Duct (BMD) method that involves creating a 20mm slot into the road.
